im having network reception problems with my iphone 3g 3.1.2 ?

i got a jailbroken iphone frm canada...im using it in india.all is fine but i have poor signal reception.very often i find no service even when other phones have good coverage.and youtube app is not working.i saw some youtube videos but they were about wifi probs which i dont hav.....plz help
