Problems with wireless mouse. ?

My wireless mouse just stopped working. Batteries and mouse pad are good. The only way I can move the pointer is if I control the mouse in reverse. I literally had to turn the mouse around and use it that way, which is quite uncomfortable. What's the problem? How can I fix this?
