Why bootable USB Android OS won't work?

I've follow every instruction up to entering bios setting for my HP 6530b laptop. I've already move up the USB options (all of them) as the one which the laptop will read first. After exit from bios, the laptop did not read my usb thumb drive. There's only a blinking cursor with black screen. After 2-3 minutes or so, it resumed with normal windows XP boot. Why?
