File Transferring b/w Two Laptops ?

I have two Laptops one with XP, another with win7.

I have a normal Ethernet Cable.
Also have WiFi on both Laptops.

I want to transfer files b/w them. How?
If u prefer WiFi Adhoc, please give steps after connecting to Adhoc network.

Please give steps in detail...!

Note: I dont have any Routers/Modems.
