How to e mail photo at high resolution?

When I e mail a photo scanned at 300 dpi it becomes 72 dpi at the receivers end and it becomes unfit for proper printing say for a book. Can you please give me some step by step tips for sending scanned photos at its original resolution.

the simplest solution will be to zip the picture into a zip file and then send it as the email service won't re-size a picture which is inside a zip file.
Other way can be uploading it in full resolution on Skydrive and then sharing it privately via a link, there can be many more methods, but both these metods work fine, give it a try.
