"A disk read error occurred Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart" ?

Last night my computer worked fine. On switching it on this morning, i still use it, i browse the net, i use microsoft word then suddenly my computer freeze for about 3 mins then i restart then I get the error message:

"A disk read error occurred Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart"

i recently search the net on how to fix the problem but the solutions are almost similar, they say that i need an xp cd, but my cd rom is not ejecting.. i dont know why, i tried inserting a pin many times but still no luck... please help me i want to recover my files.

sanjayjha 		CHECK THE HDD IN CMOS THAT IS DETECTING OR NOT
IF HDD IS DETECTING THEN YOU WINDOWS XP IS CORRUPTED.
REINSTALL WINDOWS XP BY USING PENDRIVE OR CD
