Slow internet with XP suddenly, only on some connections ?

My internet connectivity is very poor suddenly using my cable service at home, but is fine using LAN at work.
Confirmed as a Windows XP issue because problem does not appear using Linux on same computer with same connection.

Sharath 		Use any bandwidth shaping softwares with a firewall to determine which application is consuming the bandwidth. The most common ones are Adobe updater, Windows update and the antivirus updates. To see which app is using up the connection you can use a freeware called tcpview. Then find out the application path and take necessary steps to prevent it from accessing the internet.

there maybe some application or maybe windows update consuming lots of bandwidth, see this tutorial to determine which application is eating up bandwidth - http://www.troublefixers.com/how-to-check-which-application-or-software-is-using-internet-connection/
